Heat Rash Treatment

The thing about heat rash treatment is that it is rarely needed. Basically, heat rash tends to disappear on its own, after a day or two of the affected person exiting the overheated environment. However, this does not mean that, if the sufferer continues to expose himself or herself to high temperatures, some heat rash treatment is not necessary.

For example, the first step of the heat rash treatment is the washing of the affected area. Be very careful, though. The cloth that you use to wash the inflamed portion of the skin should be soft and should lack abrasions. Also, keep in mind that using acidic soap is not a good idea, since it could cause further distress to that particular part of your epidermal tissue. Thus, it is best to use a gentle soap, more precisely one with a pH that is very close to that of your skin.

Another thing that should be included in any heat rash treatment is rest. Yes, a lot of rest in cool rooms is, usually, all it takes for the heat rash to recede. Of course, cool baths or showers help, just as well. Keep in mind that cool does not mean cold. Therefore, even if you are resting in a room with an air conditioning device, the temperature must never be lower than 21° C or 70° F. If the temperature is beneath that number, the rash could be magnified. Also, try to avoid skin to skin contact when suffering from this type of rash. It is best if you apply pieces of cloth between folds of skin or below the breasts, to keep from chaffing the affected epidermal tissue.
