Preventing Heat Rash

The easiest way to prevent the appearance of heat rash is obvious: stay out of overheated areas, out of the sun or, if that is not possible, do not linger more then twenty minutes at a time in such places. If that is not possible, there are some things that one can do to prevent heat rash:

  • Wear clothes made of breathable materials: usually, people who wear clothes made of cotton have little to no problems with the heat. Yes, they sweat when the temperatures rise, but the sweat does not gather on their skin, clogging the pores and hurrying the appearance of heat rash.
  • Try not to wear polyester or nylon: yes, it is said that a lady has stockings on even in the summer, but try to avoid them, especially if they are made from nylon. Both polyester and nylon are materials that do not allow the skin to breathe.
  • Maintain a cool temperature: usually, people suffer from heat rash after they have been in the sun for an entire day, but that does not mean that one cannot develop heat rash from being inside all day long. However, if the temperature in a room is low enough, maintained by air conditioning and fans, it is unlikely that you will suffer from heat rash.
